01Conception
CIMAR — the Centre for Infertility Management and Assisted Reproduction — began in 1996 as northern Kerala's first IVF centre. Today it offers IUI, IVF, ICSI, egg donation and fertility preservation.
02First beat
CIMAR's fetomaternal unit opened in 2000 with a genetics lab, level 3 ultrasound and dedicated care for high-risk pregnancies — the first fetal medicine department in Kerala.
03Arrival
Normal and painless delivery, caesarean care and labour suites — with antenatal counselling before birth and postnatal care after. In 2014 CIMAR launched MOM, the Magic of Motherhood birthing centre.
04Little ones
A dedicated neonatal unit, staffed by expert neonatologists, looks after the most vulnerable newborns — with kangaroo mother care, follow-up clinics and paediatrics for the years ahead.

About CIMAR
In 1985, Dr. K. K. Gopinathan and his close aides decided to establish a hospital in the small town of Edappal in north Kerala. It opened in January 1990 with 25 beds — today Edappal Hospital has over 350.
In September 1996, under his guidance, CIMAR — the Centre for Infertility Management and Assisted Reproduction — launched as the first IVF centre of northern Kerala. Its fetomaternal unit followed in 2000, then hospitals in Kochi (2010) and Thrissur (2023).
